10 Months Old

Aubrey Nicole, you are 10 months old, only a couple short months from turning 1!  This update is coming only about 2 1/2 weeks late, but I guess I have a decent excuse (post coming soon).

You are still about 19 lbs and close to 29 inches long.  You wear size 4 diapers and 12 and 18 month clothes.  The day before your 10 month birthday we spent some time in the ER again and got your constipation issues fixed so that's why I think you didn't "gain" any weight from last month.

Things you have learned/do this month:
 - You are on the move!  You crawl everywhere and love exploring.  You like to take the most difficult path (over and under things) to get somewhere.
 - You pull to stand very easily and have are cruising around furniture a lot.
 - You are getting good at feeding yourself but really only will eat puffs and yogurt melts.  Any baby food that has chunks in it you spit out.
 - Your favorite food is now a tie between carrots, yogurt and sweet potatoes and corn.
 - You have two teeth on the bottom.
 - You are becoming more and more independent and showing your little personality.  Whenever you fall or slip when you're standing up you start crying even if it's obvious it didn't hurt.  I think maybe it hurts your feelings or something.
 - You love reading books, singing/music and playing with balls.
 - You said your 3rd word - ball.
 - I think you know what a ball and book are because you typically will get them from a pile of random toys if I ask you to.

I didn't come up with any genius ways to get your picture even with Grandma here to help.

9 Months Old

Aubrey Nicole, you are 9 months old!  My blog posts are getting a little scarce so at least I have to post something once a month for your birthdays.

You are 19 lbs 1 oz and 27 3/4 inches long (I think they measure your length short at the doctor's office).  You wear size 4 diapers and 12 month clothes.  I moved you up to the next car seat because your legs were getting so long.  It's a little more difficult to get the car unloaded now that I have to carry you.  You also moved up to "Infant B" at daycare.  Most of the kids in there can walk or are really close so you'll have a little catching up to do now.

Things you have learned/do this month:
 - You are really testing all the ranges of your voice now.  You will yell really loud and then say something very quiet.  You say Mama a lot and sometimes even act like you know that means me.  I even got you to repeat something to me once.
 - You know your name very well and usually turn to me when I say it but typically don't stop what you're doing for long.  You do understand one "command" now: give mama a kiss.  You turn and open your mouth and stick it on my cheek.  Makes me smile every single time.
 - You can pick up things with just your thumb and first finger and are getting pretty good at putting food in your mouth even though you don't think you like it yet.  You act like your chocking to death every time you try to swallow something not pureed.
 - You are on the move!  You learned pretty quickly how to crawl up off the ground and now have 2 speeds.  You are funny when you get excited to go get something.
 - You can pull to stand with almost anything and have started cruising around the furniture.  In the last couple days you've figured out how to get back down to the ground more gracefully which makes me happy because you had a couple bruises and bumps on your head from falling down.
 - You are a dancer.  Anytime there's music and even sometimes when it's just me tapping on something you start to shake and move.
 - You stick your tongue out just a little when you're really concentrating on something.  It is sooo cute!
 - You can hold your bottle all by yourself now, but still prefer not to.  You can drink out of a sippy cup sort of but don't like it much.
 - You really like looking at pictures of people.  Every time we sit on the couch you try to crawl up so you can see the digital frame on the end table.  We also talk about Aunt Abby and everyone in the wedding party because those are the 2 pictures right outside your door and you look for them when we go in and out of your room.
 - Carrots are still your favorite food.  So strange.
 - You finally have your first little tooth poking through (bottom left) and have started to eat more un-pureed food.
 - One of your favorite things to do is take everything out of a bag.  You also like to play with cords and straps.  You will crawl anywhere to get to a cord.
 - You have finally figured out that napping is good for you!  I will lay you in your bed and you'll just crawl around until you find a good spot and then go to sleep no problem.  Now if we can get you to sleep at daycare you'll be set.

You are entirely too mobile to get good pictures now.  The only thing you really want to grab is the paper and if you can't reach it you just crawl away.  I'm going to have to come up with a new strategy before next month.

Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday to this man...

Aubrey and I can't wait till you get home.  We love you and miss you so much!  We'll celebrate my 30th, your 35th, Aubrey's 1st, our 5 year anniversary and all the other holidays that we're missing as soon as you get home.  It's going to be one heck of a party cramming all that together.

8 Months Old

Aubrey Nicole, you are 8 months old!  This post is a little late, but you make it very difficult to take your pictures now.

You are about 18 lbs and 28.5 inches long.  You wear size 3 diapers during the day and size 4 at night, 9 and 12 month tops and 12 month or 12-18 month pants and pajamas.  You have such long legs.

Things you have learned/do this month:
 - Dada is currently your favorite word.  You said it a lot for a few days, then suddenly stopped for over a week.  Then we "talked" to Daddy over Skype and now 3 days later you are still saying Dada all the time. During that week break your favorite word was "hiynya" which I thought sounded like a Chinese version of "hi ya" like if you were karate chopping something.  It was so funny that almost everyone would repeat it when you said it.
 - You touch everything with your pointer finger.
 - You just started clicking your tongue but as soon as I try to get it on video or do it back to you, you stop.
 - You area pro sitter now.  You still tip over every once in a while.  Mostly when you get really excited and wave your hands in the air.  You don't quite know how to get down to the floor gracefully so that looks like you are falling over as well.
 - Your favorite game is sitting on the ground and reaching for my hands to pull up to stand.  You are still very wobbly when standing but apparently you don't know that b/c you'll let go fairly often.
 - You have started to respond to my talking.  You will say something and I'll repeat it and you stare at me trying to figure out what I'm doing, then you'll say it again a little louder and I'll do the same.  You start going quicker and then just grin really big.
 - You realized you can reach the top of your head and that there's something soft up there.  You are not a fan when it hurts after you've pulled your hair though.
 - You have started to make this really funny face that looks like you think something stinks.  You scrunch your nose and upper lip together and despite my best efforts I haven't been able to get a picture.
 - You eat a lot of new foods now but your favorite is still carrots.
 - You tried your first solid food (puffs).  Not a fan.  You don't quite know how to chew it yet so even though it dissolves pretty quickly you act like it tastes gross and is choking you.
 - You have started to hold you bottle by yourself.  You won't take it and put it in your mouth, but if I make you put your hands on it then you'll stick it in your mouth and hold it.
 - We spent a whole week apart and I think you did way better than me.  You had started taking naps better at home and did great the whole week.
 - One day after your 8 month birthday you started Army crawling.  Since I hadn't got this posted yet or taken your pictures, I'm going to count it here.  I've been trying to get you to crawl for several weeks, but you didn't really like my help.  Then you just decided you were ready to move forward and crawled all the way across the room.  You are pretty quick but you're going to be fast once you figure out how to get your belly off the ground.

I want that paper, Mom!
